Limitations Policy
  1. Information provided on this website about the Scottish Society of Architect Artists is the responsibility of the Society and its office bearers.
  2. Biographical details relating to individual artists, together with descriptions of their artworks including such details as date of execution, dimensions, medium and price, is provided on the website in good faith, on the basis of information supplied to the Society by the artists themselves.  The Society cannot, however, guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any such information.  If an enquirer or purchaser is in any doubt, the matter should be taken up with the artist concerned.
  3. In supplying information about themselves and their artworks to the Society, for the purpose of inclusion on the website, artists must accept the possibility that visitors to the site may enquire about them.  Such requests will be passed to the artists themselves who are then responsible for any further contact made with the enquirers.  Although the site is designed in such a way as to minimise the risk of artists receiving malicious or mischievous contacts either directly or via the internet and email systems, the Society cannot undertake to vet each individual enquiry.  It is the responsibility of the artists to satisfy themselves as to the intentions of enquirers once initial contacts have been made.
  4. The images of artworks displayed on the website are based on materials supplied to the Society, in either photographic or digital form, by the individual artists.  Whilst the Society will make every effort to ensure that the images provide a reasonable representation of the original artworks, no guarantee can be provided that the quality, definition or colour of an image exactly match the original in every respect.  It is the responsibility of prospective purchasers to satisfy themselves that the artwork they are acquiring meets their expectations.
  5. Likewise, in inviting artists to supply images and other information about their artworks for inclusion on the website, the Society is obliged to take for granted in every case that the original artwork has in fact been executed by the artist concerned and is not in any way counterfeit.  Although the artists are required to sign a declaration certifying the authenticity of artworks to be exhibited on the website, the Society cannot provide any other guarantee as to their originality or provenance and, if purchasers are in any doubt, it is their responsibility to take up the matter directly with the artists.
  6. The Society’s terms of reference are limited to those set out on the website in ‘About SSAA’.  In particular, it should be noted that the Society is not a retailing organisation.  Whilst artworks displayed on the website may be available for purchase, the terms of any such purchase are a matter for agreement between the individual artist and the purchaser.  Arrangements for packing, carriage and insurance of artworks subject to such a purchase agreement are likewise a matter for agreement between the individual artist and the purchaser, and the Society will take no responsibility for any damage or loss of artworks in transit.
  7. In the event of any dispute between an artist and an enquirer or purchaser, the matter is for resolution between the parties, and the Society will not intervene.
